Motion pictures are fully protected by copyright. Public exhibition, especially when an admission fee is charged, could violate copyright.
The copyright doctrine of fair use, however, permits certain uses of brief excerpts from a copyrighted material for non-profit teaching purposes without permission. If you have specific questions about whether your plans to use of film clips or other copy righted materials in your lessons are permissible under these guidelines, you should consult your church's legal advisor. In the USA your Church can apply for a blanket licensing agreement from the motion picture licensing Corporation
